Gluten Free Christmas Lunch

I’ve been spending a lot of time baking in the kitchen during holidays. We invited some of our friends for Christmas lunch, and I was exploring gluten free baking for one of my friend. Roasted veggie sandwich with pea pesto, pumpkin and ginger soup, Chocolate-almond brownie, Cherry-mint bruschetta, Strawberry mousse chocolate cup, and pavlova.

Vegan Afternoon Tea

We enjoyed the Vegan Afternoon Tea with our friend. I cooked everything from scratch to use natural cane sugar, maple syrup, and unsweetened shredded coconuts too. Grilled veggie on chia seeds bread, scones, mushroom cups, coconut yogurt tarts, yolos, pumpkin pudding, and Santa brownies.

Christmas Tree

Getting ready for the holiday season. December came in the blink of an eye. Roof repairs are finally finished and we started putting up Christmas decorations. We got a Christmas tree with pinecones which is about 4m. We had to cut 50cm off the top because it didn’t fit inside the car. The machine that […]

Temari

Temari balls are a folk Japanese art craft, originating in China. ”Temari” means hand ball in Japanese. To embroider, I wrapped a styrofoam ball with a thread. Then divide the ball into a number of sections and embroider.

Holiday Parade of Lights

It is a middle of November, but the holiday spirits are here in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I participated the Holiday Parade of Lights in Downtown Halifax, and marched about 2.5km while snowflakes are falling from the night sky.

Veterans’ Week Concert

This week, with Remembrance Day on November 11, is Veterans’ Week. In honor of this, The Stadacona Band of the Royal Canadian Navy Band played a concert. Several members of our Halifax based military reserved band participated as extras. We were given the sheet music on Thursday, and after two rehearsals on Thursday and Friday, […]

A Little Friend

A time to get relaxed in the midst of a busy day. Lately, this little fellow has been in the corner of the deck waiting for me to come outside. When it’s warm in the afternoon, I like spending my time sitting on the deck reading books or just watching birds pecking on the grass. […]

Happy Halloween!

Halloween eyeball monsters. They are cream puff with custard cream and whipped cream. Who wants to come for a trick-or-treat?

Pumpkin Stand

An unattended pumpkin stand I saw in Kings County. The pumpkins were divided into large, medium, and small sizes, and the prices were written on them. There was a tin can next to the pumpkins, so I put in the money for the pumpkins I received. It is very interesting that pumpkins are not only […]

Planters Ridge Winery

Planters Ridge Winery is located in the small town of Port Williams, about an hour’s drive northwest of our Burgundy Dream B&B. The winery is about 10 years old, but they have great wines. Their facility, a 160 years-old barn that was renovated, is a very stylish place to enjoy a light lunch and a […]
