William Lake

Cyril Smith Golden Acres Park

Blue sky for the first time since New Year’s Day. We went for a walk at Cyril Smith Golden Acres Park in Dartmouth. It was interesting to see that the water’s edge seemed to be frozen in waves. The trail is an easy 2.4km out and back walk along Albro Lake.

New Year’s Dish

This is a traditional Japanese New Year’s dish called Osechi. It is like a bento-box that contains assortment of foods such as fish, beans and seaweed. They don’t use lobsters, but since lobsters are Nova Scotia’s specialty, I cooked grilled lobster and lobster tempra.

Happy New Year! The first sunrise of 2021 at Salt Marsh Trail. Salt Marsh Trail is a former railway that has been transformed into a trail. This well-maintained trail is about 20 kilometer out and back between Cole Harbour and Lawrencetown.

Shubenacadie Canal Trail

Shubenacadie Canal Trail. This trail used to have the inclined planes constructed as part of the 114 km Shubenacadie Canal, which operated between 1861 and 1871. It was used for towing barges loaded with building suppliers, coal and food and those inclined planes were replace by the Intercolonial Railway.
