Blackberry picking

Our backyard hill is brimming with wild blackberry bushes, and the end of summer, we harvest as many of the tiny gems as we can. While they may be small and full of seeds, there’s something special about turning them into a homemade pie. This year, I decided to mix things up and baked a […]

Portobello Trailhead

Perfect day for Bike ride to the Portobello Trailhead. It was nice that there was little traffic today because one end of the Waverley road is closed for bridge construction and only locals are driving. Portobello Trailhead is one of my favourite trail near our place. Because of the bridge construction, Even though the Portobello […]

Calle Flamenca

During the summer, I participated in several intensive flamenco workshops by Maria Osende, each lasting two or three days, whenever my schedule allowed. The final three-day session focused on Bulerías, a challenging dance style. Over the course of those three days, we immersed ourselves in the music, rhythm, palmas, and footwork, culminating in the choreography […]

TORICO Hair Studio

In Nova Scotia, the only Japanese hairstylist, Hitomi, gave me an incredibly cute makeover. With delicate highlights and a super stylish short cut, my previously dry hair now has a stunning shine. It’s so easy to style on my own too. I almost don’t want to share her secret because she’s so popular, but I […]

Summer Delights

During the busy summer days, I found joy in spending time making homemade desserts. I made a rhubarb tart using rhubarb from our house and raspberries from our neighbor. The tart was layered with rhubarb jam, almond cream, fresh rhubarb, raspberries, and a crumble topping. Additionally, I made homemade pudding with perfectly browned and aromatic […]

Peggy’s Cove

Every time friends visit, we make a trip to Peggy’s Cove—a timeless favorite in Nova Scotia. No matter how often we go, it never loses its charm. On this day, the blue of the sky and sea was particularly stunning.

Fisherman’s Cove

A charming fishing village with a 200-year history. The beach buzzes with life as fishing boats come and go, anglers cast their lines, and children play in the water. The gift shops and cafés are delightfully colorful. This place is one of my favorites.

Pride Parade in Halifax

Starting with Halifax’s first Pride March in 1988, where 75 people participated, Pride Week has evolved into a major festival celebrating the city’s diverse community. Now, it attracts over 120,000 participants each summer. This summer, I have marched with the 5th Canadian Division band and Stadacona Band. Sam biked 20 km to come see me. […]
