Children’s Day

Japanese celebrate May 5 as “Children’s day”, which is one of the national holidays. People hang up the carp streamers called “Koinobori”, display ornamental helmets called “kabuto” and eat traditional foods. I baked Rolled cakes in the shape of carp streamer.

Wild vegetable

We are in the season of fresh greenery. Our backyard hill is budding all at once. A lot of fiddleheads have started to grow. If you like picking wild vegetables, please come to our house during this season. A wild North American shrub called hobblebush has white flowers and is very beautiful.

Staircase to Water’s edge
