Japanese Mochi with sweet red been paste

Once in a while, I crave Japanese sweets. I made Strawberry Daifuku with shiratama flour that a friend of mine from Vancouver gave me. I got azuki beans at a store that sells beans by weight. After I made sweet red bean paste with azuki beans, wrapped strawberries with that paste. Then I made mochi […]

Spring has come

Mornings are still chilly, and sometimes it’s 2℃ even though it is now May. It is much colder than last year. It has been a rainy spring, but the greenery is gradually growing. Some flowers are blooming and you can feel spring breeze in the air.

Kana’s Morning Walk

Spring has come. Birds are singing, chipmunks are dancing, and colorful flowers are blooming. It is a beautiful season for a morning walk in our backyard hills. Kazue plays flute in the video. The song “Kana’s Morning Walk” is written by Fuefuki Kana and accompaniment is created by Kana as well.

Happy Easter

Although it’s sometime still chilly, spring has definitely come. Birds are singing, chipmunks are dancing, and colorful flowers are blooming. It is a beautiful season for a morning walk in our backyard hills. I baked Strawberry Baked Cheesecake with Chocolate Brownie Base for the Easter dinner’s dessert. A bird’s nest made with chocolate turned out […]

Spiders Lake Trail again

Sam and I went to the Spiders Lake trail again. The snow has gone and we did 8km trail run with a Trail Run club. The trail we ran wasn’t the same major trail that we walked in the snow last time. We ran through more narrow trails with up and downs. There were about […]

Spider Lake Trail

Spider Lake Trail is about 2.4 km out and back train located near Waverley, Nova Scotia where we live. Although it is already March, we could enjoy snow hike. After a couple of days of snow falling, the trees were covered with fresh snow, and we were totally in winter wonderland. Some people were enjoying […]

White Valentine?

White stuff has been falling from the sky all day on Valentine’s Day. It covered everything white again. The spring has not yet to come on Valentine’s Day. Although the outside is cold, heart-shaped sweet bun with cookie crusted bread and homemade layered chocolate cake warm up our heart.

Ice Art in Nature

What a beautiful ice art of nature! After freezing rain, the ice flowers were glittering in the sunlight this morning. The neighbor’s cat who hadn’t come around during the winter, seemed to have arrived. I wonder if winter is coming to an end.

Lawrencetown Beach

We had a power outage this morning, so we decided to go outside. We went to see the wild ocean. The Lawrencetown Beach is about 30 minutes drive from Burgundy Dream Bed & Breakfast, but it took a little longer to drive on some icy roads. Along the coast, we could see the ice art […]
