JMSDF Training Squadron Visits Halifax

From August 9 to 12, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Training Squadron visited Halifax for the first time in 13 years. The squadron, with approximately 530 personnel, is on a 161-day voyage visiting 11 ports in five countries.

During their visit, I had the pleasure of playing a joint outdoor concert with the JMSDF Training Squadron Band and the Royal Canadian Navy Band – Stadacona Band.

Despite having no rehearsal, their performance was perfectly coordinated and truly impressive. It was wonderful to see the musicians enjoying their exchange through music.

It was a beautiful reminder that music can connect people across countries and cultures. A truly memorable experience.
