Day to Play for Peace

On August 9, in Halifax, Canada, I performed at the naming ceremony of the new ship, HMCS Robert Hampton Gray.
Lieutenant Gray is known for sinking a Japanese warship during the war, and there is a memorial dedicated to him in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. This memorial stands as a symbol of remembering the tragedies of war and passing on the importance of peace to future generations.
The ceremony was attended by senior Canadian naval officers, Kanji Yamanouchi, the Japanese Ambassador to Canada, and members of Gray’s family. It became a meaningful event symbolizing the shared history and commitment to peace between Canada and Japan.
