Emera Oval Skating

I had my first skate at the Emera Oval, a year-round outdoor facility on the Halifax Common. In winter, it transforms into the largest outdoor, artificially refrigerated ice surface. This season, I had only stepped onto the frozen Lake William for a brief glide, so this was my first time skating such a long distance. With so many people around, I started cautiously, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. I started with a support frame to get my balance, then practiced with Sam pulling me along. In the end, I pushed myself to skate on my own. The temperature was around 0°C, and the cold air stung my face, but the experience was unforgettable.
